bought
this
NEW
'61
Stratocaster
on
April
25,
1961
when
I
was
14
years
old (I
am now
over 70).

One
year
later
I
decided
to
change
the
white
pickguard
to
tortoise
shell
and
a
few months
later
to
change
the
knobs
to
Telecaster
chrome
knobs. |
|
I
took
the
white
Pickguard
and
the
3
Strat
knobs
off
and
put
them
in
a
box,
where they
were
for
over 40
years.
|
|
I
sold
the
Strat
two
years
later
on
May
30,
1963
and
bought
a
'63
Jaguar
(I
know, BIG
MISTAKE),
but
kept
the
original
pickguard
and
knobs. |

The
neck plate (Serial number 56971) came off my Strat-Tele Hybrid, but
it is an original 1961 neck plate with screws. |
|
I
also
kept
the
original
Stratocaster
Instruction
Manual
and
the
Tag
that
was attached
to
the
headstock
on
all
new
instruments
in
1961 |
|
Notice
the
date
it
was
made
(Feb.
8,
1961)
and
the
Serial
Number
(60551)
on
the inside
of
the
Tag. |
